Maureen Shields
Served as President

Maureen ShieldsAfter owning a home in the Waldo area for four years Maureen decided to make the move downtown. The idea of owning a condo in downtown Kansas City appealed to her as she works from home and does a great deal of traveling for her work. The Metropolitan was the perfect fit for Maureen. In January 2007 Maureen was elected to The Metropolitan Board. Maureen currently works as an event planner for Outside the Box Ministries, an event planning company for youth. Prior to this Maureen served as a youth director for a local church, and also she has many years of experience as an independent insurance agent. Maureen’s work experience has taught her how to work in team settings, project manage, develop and maintain budgets, and create systems for better communication, all of which are beneficial in her role on the Board.

Geri Simmons
Served as Vice President

Geri SimmonsGeri has lived at the Metropolitan since Nov 2006 and has served on the board since January 2007. Geri is a regional Human Resources Manager overseeing 50 locations in 16 states for Masco Corporation, a fortune 100 company. She brings many years of valuable professional experience by working for publicly traded companies in a various capacities such as merger and acquisitions, investigations, budgeting and operational roles and international and domestic strategies. Geri is detailed, results oriented and her ability to negotiate in difficult situations is a great asset to the Board.

Tyrone Aiken
2007 – 2008, Served as Vice President & President

Tyrone AikenTyrone Aiken, a native of Amityville, New York, is the Executive Director for Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey (KCFAA). He has been part of KCFAA since 1995 and has taken the organization to the next level by developing new and innovative programming. Tyrone has been actively involved in the community. Tyrone is a panelist for the Missouri Arts Council and the Kansas Commission for the Arts, he has also served on panels for The Learning Exchange, and Kansas City Metropolitan Arts council. In 2003 Tyrone received the Robert A. and Dr Phyllis Bernstein Humanitarian Award from the Jewish Family and Children Services and traveled to the White House to accept the Coming Up Taller award presented to Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey for AileyCamp. In 2005 He was selected as a Bank of America Neighborhood Hero. In 2007 he was appointed by the Mayor of Kansas City to serve on the Parks and Recreation board. As a Park’s board member he also serves on the board of the National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial, The Kansas City Arts Commission and the City of Fountains Foundation.

Alison Huber
2005 – 2008, Served as Secretary, Vice President & President

Alison HuberAlison has lived at the Metropolitan since the very beginning of development in 2004 and has served on the board since December 2005. Alison works as an insurance broker for Bukaty Property & Casualty Services, Inc. Alison brings her detailed mindset to the table in regards to contract language and negotiation tactics. She is involved in the community in other ways, such as Junior League, Festival Singers of Kansas City, and the Executive Women’s Golf Association.
